About Books That Made Me
Books That Made Me is a free way to pick the nine books that shaped you, put them on one card, and share it with a link. There is no account and no email address to give.
How to make your card
- Choose which nine: the books of your whole life (the default), a time in your life such as your teens or your 30s, or one kind of book such as fantasy or romance.
- Tap a slot, search by title, author, or ISBN, and pick a book. Drag books to change their order.
- Add a short note to any book if you like. Mark a note as a spoiler and it stays hidden until someone taps it.
- Choose whether to share your card on the Readers page. You can describe yourself as a reader, author, bookseller, librarian, book creator, or book club.
- Publish. You get a link to share and a picture you can save. Cards you share on the Readers page appear there automatically.
Finding books and readers
Readers shows cards people chose to share publicly. Book charts shows ranked lists from Apple Books and Open Library. Community picks ranks the books that appear on cards made here.
Where the book data comes from
Titles, authors, years, and covers come from Open Library, the open catalogue run by the Internet Archive. Book genres follow the categories used by Amazon, so a romance card means what you expect.
How the site pays for itself
Each book on a card has buy buttons; the disclosure lists which shops we show where. When you buy through one, the shop pays us a small commission; the price is the same for you. There are no ads. See the full disclosure.
Removing a card
When you publish, you get a private delete link. If you lose it, write to hello@booksthatmademe.com with the card's link.
